So what is Ten Pounds Worth of Change all about?
There is a great deal of talk at the moment about empowering young people and giving them a voice but what does this mean?
Our experience shows that quite often young people are asked for their opinions but evidence that they have been taken into consideration and actually had an influence is difficult to find.
We wanted to start an initiative where young people themselves could highlight things that matter to them rather than just being asked what they think about things that other people have decided were important. This website has been set up for exactly that purpose. We have developed a videowall and social networking space to help young people to highlight issues and connect with others who share similar interests.
We came up with the idea of ten pounds worth of change because we know that young people have it within their power to bring about change... Themselves!
Making a change needn't cost anything but setting a limit of £10 forces us all to be realistic. To take part you need to decide how you would spend £10 to make a positive change. This could be in your school, your community or society in general.
